It’s never too late to pick up a book and fall in love!
Hey, I’m Shannen!
I live in the Midlands in the UK. I work in educational outreach, have a degree in history and I’m currently studying towards an MA in Education. I enjoy sitcoms, period dramas, music (rock or cheesy 90s tunes), walking and a good ol’ cup of coffee with pastries.
When I’m not working or studying I can usually be found with a book in my hands, but that wasn’t always the case!
After graduating university in 2019 at age 25, I realised I hadn’t picked up a book for pleasure since I was a young teenager. I wanted to change that and start reading again.
The process of getting back into reading after so many years has been a slow and bumpy one. Then, in 2020, amidst the uncertainty and chaos of an unprecedented year, I found solace and joy in books.
Rekindled Bibliophile is a space for me to share my journey of rediscovering reading and my passion for literature. I’ll be sharing book reviews, bookish discussions and tips and advice on how to get started reading. I want to encourage everybody to read, because whether you haven’t read a book since you were a child like me, or you have never read a book in your life, it’s never too late to pick up a book and fall in love!
I read a variety of genres, but my most-read genres are:
- Historical Fiction
I also love fandom and avidly follow TV shows and movies, which may make its way onto the blog on occassion!
